"Hi Diane, Cassidy has been a great dog so far. We took her on a long walk yesterday and she never once pulled on the leash, or acknowledged any of the barking dogs in our neighborhood. Whenever she saw people inside a house, she always wanted to stop and say hi though. You did a good job with her, as she is pretty good about sitting with or without a treat. All that is left is some obedience classes and some ongoing training at home and she should be the best pet bull there is. I also didn't know how great a Kong toy was until now, she loves to play fetch with it. Keep in touch and let me know if you ever need anything from our end.

Thanks again for everything!"

Update April 2005

Karen,

Everything is going great. We changed her name to Cassie (two syllables). She is the best dog in the world. As you know when we adopted her she was about 6 1/2 months old and is a little over 9
months now. She has grown longer and wider, but not taller which is good. Her face has really developed as opposed to really droopy lips when we got her. She is still the sweetest and smartest dog and loves all people and most other dogs. She just tested negative for demodex
after fighting that for 2 months with oral medication everyday. Also, she just finished a 7 week puppy class, and has learned to sit and lay down, etc. on command, and to shake when she wants a treat or to lay on the couch. She is growing into a typical teenager, as she has
started being a little more vocal, but is under control. She enjoys sprinting around the backyard and our 2 mile walk everyday. I don't know who is luckier Cassie, or me and my wife. Unfortunately, we don't have any updated photos of her. I will get some updated ones to you soon!

Its too bad more people in the world don't give these dogs a chance. A lady I work with recently adopted a pitt puppy on accident (they told her it was a boxer mix). I immediately knew what her family adopted when I had heard her describe the puppy, and I sent her the pitt bull rescue site to educate her on raising and training it properly. She has since bought two books on the breed and is involving the whole family with the training.

Thanks for giving me a chance to brag about Cassie.

Kevin

Would you believe we found this precious pup sitting hopelessly on deathrow at the shelter? Her only crime was to be a Pit Bull... An adorable one too! We managed to make room for her and Cassidy can now breath in relief. She will live!

Silly Face | Beautiful girl

She is just delightful. This really is one irresistible puppy who wins anyone's heart at first sight. Cassidy is very loving and people-oriented, although we think she wasn't very well treated before her rescue. She is a little scared in new situations but is quickly learning that life has taken a turn for the best. She wants very much to be the good and happy little Pit Bull she was born to be. She just needs a little bit of time.

Cassidy has been around other dogs but we think she might have had a bad experience with them in the past. She is warming up quickly but is a little uncomfortable in their presence at first. We don't think this behavior will last long. A few minutes after meeting them she is playful and seeking their company to cuddle.

Pretty Cassidy

Cassidy is making great effort with housebreaking and is good in a crate. In fact, she hasn't had one accident in the house at this pont so we can probably consider her housebroken. She doesn't whine in her crate and goes in voluntarily provided it is filled with comfy blankets. She loves comfort and you can tell she is very thankful for all the good care she is receiving.

We think Cassy is going to be as pretty as an adult as she is as a pup. She is quite stocky already and has the cutest face. Her coat is chocolate red and white and she is quite the little tank.

This is one sweet puppy who seems to be relatively easy. She is calm and easy going, but has adorable little outbursts of joy and happiness when you play with her outside. She is sooooo cute and charming that we told her foster mom this one was going to be very hard to let go. Too many other dogs like Cassidy are waiting for their chance at the shelter though, so we all know that finding this princess a good home will save another life.

"Please open your heart to me"
